A Thousand Splendid Suns is a tale of two generations of characters in Afghanistan, brought together by the tragic sweep of war, where personal lives-the struggle to survive, raise a family, find happiness-are all inextricable from the history playing out around them. It is a striking, heart-wrenching novel of an unforgiving time, an unlikely friendship, and an indestructible love.
All I have to say is that it fills you with a full range of human emotions, from rage, love, hate, hope and above all, faith. Let me just tell you, I cried my eyes out. I apologize for the horrible blog, but your just going to have to read it sometime in this lifetime. Not anytime soon, I know, but sometime.
This is the other book Hosseini wrote before A Thousand Splendid Suns, and it's really good also. I read it this summer and it was an international best seller. Another tear jerker that fills you with a million emotions, but definitely worth reading. They actually made a movie out of this book, but like all movies the book is way better.
